Jerry began studying guitar in Okinawa, Japan when he was eight years old. He earned a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of North Carolina Greensboro and a Masters degree from the University of Southern California. He has been a freelance musician for over thirty years, performing as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles.
Jerry formed “La Folia Chamber Ensemble”, a flute, violin, and classical guitar trio, to perform at special events, and has performed for more than 3000 events. He has performed as a soloist with the Van Nuys Symphony Orchestra and has performed on several local television shows.
Since 1986, Jerry has been the director of Evergreen Music Conservatory. He is also on the music faculty at Glendale Community College where he coaches chamber ensemble, gives private lessons, and has taught a beginning guitar class.
Jerry uses a traditional method to teach guitar. While strictly adhearing to the principles of classical guitar technique and the fundamentals of music theory, he has incorporated a variety of classical, flamenco, folk, rock, blues, and bluegrass music into his method.
